Original Poem by Terina

The following poem is the first thing I see when I open my writing composition book. It does not reflect my life, as some may think; it is just a poem I came up with. Enjoy!

Falling
You're looking at me,
I'm looking at you.
Could it be true?
Am I really falling for you?

We are best friends,
But now things have changed.
I'm falling in love with you,
My life is being rearranged.

I'm falling for you even more.
Thoughts race through my head.
And I realize who you're looking at:
It's the girl behind me instead.

I am so sorry! Major update!

Wow, how long has it been? Like forever! I have a lot of stuff to update on!
1) Camp!
It's been like super long since I have been there! I worked at a church camp in Big Bear, CA and it was pretty awesome! It was kinda hot and when we had to go play team recreation outside during the hottest part of the day, it was miserable. Everyone had to be super spirited, do crazy cheers and be all sweaty and nasty. There were also tons of flies! I did learn a couple of cheer moves at camp and even lifted a girl up in the air! The whole Rice Krispies team (boys and girls) did a 5 tier pyramid also; that was pretty awesome! I saw a lot of girls come to Christ, or at least come closer, and I even saw a change in myself. Being without Facebook or anything for a week really changes your life.

2) Trip Across America!
This summer, my mom, sister and I took a trip from Las Vegas all the way across I-40 for 30 some odd hours to Tennessee to drop my sister off at college. Those were the longest 3 days of my life! At the same time however, it seemed like we took a trip to California every day. I lucked out and didn't have to drive (Random Fact #53 about Terina: she hates to drive). My sister drove for about a total of 3 hours and my mom drove the rest. We played music, played Mad Libs, listened to Maximum Ride on CD and just had fun.
Before we had left for the trip, I had scoured the internet looking for fun things to do along I-40. Nothing that interesting popped up. However, on our trip, we found tons of fun things! One of the fun things we passed was Cadillac Ranch outside Amarillo, TX. This is the place where 10 old Cadillacs are half-buried in the ground. What I didn't know was that you can actually spray paint the cars! Check it out!

Another cool thing we saw right past Amarillo was the largest cross in the northern hemisphere. I never got the exact dimensions of it, but it was pretty awesome. They had the stations that Christ went through from being arrested to the cross. They had the table of the Last Supper, Calvary, and even the tomb.

That is Paige and I standing at the bottom of the cross.

The states we drove through on the way to Tennessee were Nevada (of course), Arizona, New Mexico, Texas, Oklahoma, Arkansas and Tennessee. It was really fun but I would never want to do that drive again!

3) Two weeks before school started up, my dad and I took a spontaneous trip to California. We wanted to go to the beach and be in the nice cool air. The first day we drove down there, we headed straight to Newport Beach. The flag that day was yellow and the waves were terrible. I caught about one ride on my boogie board. My dad and I decided we wanted to "think for a little bit" (aka sleep). We both laid down on our boogie boards, put our towels over our heads and fell asleep for about 45 minutes. This was a very bad idea. I got a third degree burn on my wrist, bad burns on the top of my feet, and a terrible tan line on my thighs from my wetsuit.
The next day, my dad took me to the Santa Monica Pier and Venice beach, neither of which I had ever been to. It was pretty cool, but we had probably walked 6 miles and my feet were killing me. I got another sunburn too. After that, we went back to Newport Beach. The flag was red this time, but we decided to go out anyways because we are both advanced swimmers and we had boards. The sand in the water kept getting deep and shallow and deep and shallow. After about an hour, a lifeguard ran out and called us out of the water because the rip tides were really bad, so that day was a bust. That night, we went to a tennis clinic in Long Beach and I played amazing!
The next day, Wednesday, we had to go back home because I had a tennis match that night. That morning we went to the Wedge in Balboa. The Wedge is where they had 25 foot waves two years ago! When I was there, there were about 6 foot waves and they were way powerful! Check out this video I took on my phone. The waves look small at first, but pay attention to the surfer.

NOW:
I have started back school and I think I'm going to do good this year. I am really excited because I am taking a jazz dance class. It was awesome yesterday and I hope I get a good workout from it.
I have been working on my book, too. There are some very interesting twists and turns, that's for sure! I am almost out of paper in my original composition notebook, so I will have to get a new one soon! Wish me luck!

I promise I won't take so long to update next time! Ciao!
